Salt Lick BBQ - Driftwood / Far West Austin

creative commons 2.0

Salt Lick Barbeque Driftwood Tx. (far west Austin)
CASH Only in Driftwood - Bring Your Own Bottle - ATM Onsite

I think it's safe to say The Salt Lick restaurant is some of the best BBQ in Texas. Then again, there are literally 100s of barbeque places in Texas I feel that way about. Salt Lick has been featured in all major food publications at one time or another, and everything else BBQ related. Experience the Austin hill country! Head out 71 West towards the Willie Nelson, Bee Caves, Lake Travis, and the Hamiltons Pool area to find Salt Lick. If you are in North Austin visit The Salt Lick in Round Rock Tx., and also at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

A standard barbeque menu with beef brisket, ribs, sausage and turkey. You can order by the pound, plates, and sandwiches. You can also go the "all you can eat" route. Take a look at The Salt Licks Menu to see what might be the best for your personal needs. They also have some really good blackberry pies. Others on the menu are peach and pecan, but I haven't had a chance to try them yet.

The Salt Lick can cater and host your wedding onsite or off. If you are looking for a banquet / private room they have them readily available. They also have outdoor event space if you prefer to be one with nature in the Austin hill country amongst a very nice rustic setting. You can see more info and view their photos right here on their events page.

Seems like yesterday when I first saw the Maria's Taco wagon on South Lamar. It wasn't long after Maria's moved from the food trailer into a lease space, and now a decade later Maria's is in the restaurant they built. Step by step Maria's has become a South Austin favorite.

People not only visit for the food, but also the laid back atmosphere, the outdoor patio, and they sometimes have live Americana music.

Here you can see a  Photo Tour and Short Video Of Maria's Hippe Church.

Breakfast taco's are Maria's claim to fame and what initially got them jump started. They serve up your standard breakfast taco's like ham, bacon, chorizo, migas, and some good breakfast plates like huevos rancheros. They also have some great lunch and dinner menu items. The del la casa enchilada plates with eggplant, bell peppers, zucchini... Good fajitas too!

The Magnolia Cafe is a very popular place for locals and tourist alike. You never know who you might see there, from Roky Erikson of the 13th Floor Elevators fame to actor and University Of Texas graduate Matthew McConaughey.

Magnola serves up an American food menu which includes sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads and some Tex Mex. Some of their house specials are love veggies, spinach lasagna, and the magnolia stir fry for which you can view their menu for a more detailed description.

Magnolia serves up breakfast 24 hours a day, or as they define it 24/8. Magnolias pancakes are in popular demand making their gingerbread banana pancakes favorites to many. They are served as singles, short stack (2), or a full stack (3). They are big and thick and cover the entire plate. The omelettes are good too.

Along with the usual drinks Magnolia also has cranberry, apple, and grapefruit juice. Root beer and mocha floats are also on the menu. The alcohol menu includes chilled mimosas, beer and wine.
