Dan's Hamburgers & Onion Rings, Best Of ATX

Dans Hamburgers Screenshot
Dan's Hamburgers  Numerous Austin Locations.  Austin, TX 78704  (512) 443-6131
Open for Breakfast 6am until 10pm, Closes Later on Weekends

I have been eating at Dan's for decades without one bad experience. The burgers are fantastic and like many others I love the onion rings. My favorite breakfast item at Dan's is the biscuits and gravy, and my favorite dinner is the chicken fried steak. It's the gravy!

When I have a burger craving in Austin this is usually the first place that comes to mind. There are places that you can get a bigger burger, a fancier burger, or a more organic burger… But I'm not sure you can get a tastier one. I've been coming to Dan's as long as I can remember, so I don't pretend to be objective on this issue. This family-run restaurant has been part of my family for years and I hope it's around for a long time. Try the onion rings with your cheeseburger and wash it down with a chocolate milkshake.

What people on the internet are saying
"Dan's must have some of the best biscuits and gravy ever."
"This place is truly vintage Austin. The food is excellent."
"Had a cheese burger here with curly fries. And it was great!"
"Great food. Homemade Onion Rings and Fries."

Juan In A Million East Side ATX Popular Tex-Mex

Juan In A Million  2300 East Cesar Chavez  Austin, TX 78702  (512) 472-3872
OPEN 7:00 am - 3:00 pm Everyday Except Major Holday's

Like most Mexican restaurants they serve Huevos Rancheros, Fajitas, Enchiladas, Tacos, Chalupas... What sets them apart from the others is their reasonably priced food, larger than average portions, and good ole sincere Austin Texas East side hospitality. With that said I am going to suggest watching the short video, read below what others are saying about Juan's, and look over their menu.

I haven't been to Juan's in quite some time since moving to the North Austin / Round Rock area, but I am willing to bet it hasn't changed since my last visit. "If it isn't broke, don't fix it." Some good lip smacking Tex-Mex and a very pleasant atmosphere.  After all these folks have been in business for decades.

The last menu item I had at Juan's
The Chicken Enchiladas! Why yes, they were good! Thank you for asking.

What People on the internet are saying
"The Don Juan taco is the thing to get. This thing is huge!"
"I love the chicken enchiladas with the tomatillo green salsa"
"I've had my share in breakfast tacos, and the tacos here are not as greasy"
"The barbacoa is very lean and tasty with a flavor to die for"

Claim to fame  The Don Juan Taco. Ask about the Don Juan taco challenge.

This is what Austin Eat Cetera had to say about it.
"The Don Juan is a giant beast of a breakfast taco. Served with warm tortillas, it is a mountain of eggs, bacon, cheese, and potatoes. The bacon was amazing, not too crispy or soft, yet not overpowering either."

Brick Oven Pizza and Lasagna North Central ATX

Brick Oven Pizza   1608 W. 35th Street   Austin, Texas 78703   512-453-4330

It's not just a name, they really do use a brick oven. Many have said the Brick Oven serves up some of the best pizza and pasta dishes in Austin. Sandwiches, stromboli's, appetizers, beer and wine can also be found on the menu. They also have a gluten free menu.

I have had the spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna and pizza. I love the taste and texture of their sauce. The best way to describe it is not too sweet, and not to tangy. I also like the red bell peppers and roma tomatoes they choose to use. I haven't had one but I do know others that say the stromboli's are very good. On the stromboli menu they have a veggie, italian with pepperoni and sausage, the southwest with chicken, jalapenos and onions.

Sandwiches (Italian Style)  Meatball - Ham - Chicken - Veggie

What people on the internet are saying
"The lasagna is superb, one of the better italian restaurants in town."
"Good Italian place all around, basically. Love the artichoke dip."
"Delicious pizza combined with a good atmosphere make this a good hangout."

Alternative Sauces  Basil Pesto - Chipolte Pesto - Alfredo

The Brick Oven is located midway between Lamar and Mopac on the corner of West 35th Street and Glenview Avenue. Google Map

The Clay Pit - Traditional Indian Food, Downtown

The Clay Pit  1601 Guadalupe  Downtown Austin Tx 78701  (512) 322-5131

The Clay Pit is a traditional Indian restaurant serving a food menu native to the country of India. They also have a full service bar with a huge selection of wine from around the globe. It is casual dress with optional outdoor seating. The building the restaurant is located in is quite interesting. It is an old trading post that is supposedly haunted by the ghost of slaves that were held prisoner in the basement over a century ago. If you are near the Texas State Capital Building Downtown or The University Of Texas Campus you are in close proximity.

Web Site Note: Clay Pit has been voted best Indian restaurant in Austin and is recognized for a warm and inviting ambience, a dedication to service and for exceeding expectations

What people on the internet are saying
"They had a paneer tikka masala that was absolutely amazing."
"I had the most gloriously juicy and savory rack of lamb here."
"The korma was perfectly creamy with a slight hint of sweetness."
